That Was The Week That Was.

Another week of unpopular decisions, associated protests by the populace and, at last, some good news (in part) from the Gulf.

Elena Kagan

Elena Kagan was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday, following a 63-37 vote in favor. Ms Kagan is to be sworn in as the country’s 112th Justice later today. Regardless of her political stance, it is incredible that so many Senators could disregard her absolutely dismal performance at the three-day hearing. The fact that five Republicans voted in favor, including Lindsey Graham, is even more worrying. The other four were Senators Susan Collins of Maine, Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, Richard Lugar of Indiana, and Olympia Snowe of Maine. Perhaps they would like to ban a few books, even though “government won’t really enforce it”.

To not enforce something totally unconstitutional would be a first for this administration, given its track record of imposing, or attempting to impose, legislation which contradicts the founding principles of the nation. Similarly, they have no interest in supporting those who do uphold the laws of the land.

John Morton (right) with Eric Holder

I’m referring, of course, to the unanimous vote of no confidence in ICE Director John Morton, by the ICE Union. In a no-holds-barred letter from Union President Chris Crane, he describes how their mission has been skewed toward amnesty, how they are prevented from making arrests, other than in jail settings, and the Obama administration’s guidelines on detention centers, which provide bingo nights, dance lessons and plant hanging. Searching of detainees is not allowed, creating the potential for possession of guns and drugs which poses a risk to ICE agents and contract guards.

I know nothing about Mr Morton, and I would not launch an assault on the man as I believe his hands have been well-and-truly tied by Obama’s administration. I would ask him to look to his conscience. He is employed by the people of the United States to uphold immigration laws and to protect legal residents from the results of uncontrolled immigration, ranging from violence to the drain on US resources. Have some courage, Mr Morton, and show support for your demoralized staff. Be a man, not a puppet for Obama and his minority-voter campaign.

It was another classic case of “We don’t care what America thinks, we’ll do it anyway” this week, with the ruling by Judge Vaughn Walker that the Proposition Eight ruling was unconstitutional. His verdict was based on the Fourteenth Amendment which states, in part, “nor to deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws”. Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the law only apply to marriage between a man and a woman?

Judge Vaughn Walker

Under Section 7 of the US Code, as at February 2010: “In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, or of any ruling, regulation, or interpretation of the various administrative bureaus and agencies of the United States, the word “marriage” means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife, and the word “spouse” refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife”. Therefore, Judge, same-sex couples do not have “equal protection” guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment.

A glimmer of good news this week, as BP seemed, at last, to have sealed the oil spill. While BP say that the fish in the area are perfectly safe to consume, many local fishermen who rely on this for their livelihood are not convinced. Who would you believe?

Republicans Had Best Have A Compelling Message.

Despite the DeMarxists headlong rush to oblivion in November, we cannot count on our Republican leadership not to blow it. They need to show something that has been sadly missing thus far, in my opinion… leadership.

To date, they’ve failed in the first big test of whether they have the intestinal fortitude to be the majority in 2011. Elena Kagan should have been stonewalled out the gate. She has zero qualification for the Supreme Court. She’s an Obama creation. A political hack. A statist mouthpiece.

Did the Republican leadership stand as one and say ‘hell no’? Of course not. They went immediately into accommodation mode, giving Kagan all the wiggle room she needed to play cutesy games and not give one substantive answer to any of the really weak-kneed, almost pandering, questions by the committee. They’ve displayed themselves as indecisive and fragmented, when they should show the American Patriots, whose favor they curry, that they can stand for what we believe in.

Conservative opinion was unmistakeably against Elena Kagan’s appointment. We told the leadership from the outset that we wanted her appointment filibustered. There were comments such as ‘Obama deserves his appointments’. Flashback to Lindsey (I’ll go which ever way the wind blows) Gramnesty… and the Sotomayor hearings. As I recall, the nomination proceedings were scarcely under way and Graham was telling her, in front of the open hearing, that she ‘is going to be confirmed’. That’s enough to make a skunk gag. Sotomayor is far to left of anyone on the Court, and Kagan is to the left of her.

Somehow, the Republicans have gotten the idea that if we don’t make nice with the DeMarxist nominees, we can’t get our own through when the time comes. In the Marine Corps we’d call it ‘cowardice in the face of the enemy’. In the case of the so-called Republican leadership, it’s ‘folding before the enemy is engaged’.

I see that John McCain has come to the party late… a little like his new-found religion on illegal amnesty and border security. The point is that if the Republicans can’t show leadership on this, can we trust them to lead? We still remember, all too well, the pathetic Republican performance of the Bush years. It’s one of the reasons incumbents have been dropping like flies. There will be more!

You cannot expect us to get behind an incoherent and fragmented message. We’ve been there and done that. There’s too much at risk this time. We have to stop and derail this DeMarxist rush to tyranny at any cost, and we have to do it now! Here is a golden opportunity for the Republicans to articulate a clear, simple message. We have to return to the Reagan model. The conservative message resonates every time that it’s clearly defined… and every time it’s followed, it’s a success.

We Don’t Want Kagan! Republican Senators, Who Are You Working For?

You’d think that, after the millions and millions of telephone calls, letters, emails, faxes, personal visits to local and beltway offices… you’d think that after witnessing the millions upon millions of Americans taking their time and using their own rapidly diminishing personal treasure in literally tens of thousands of meetings across the country and in Washington DC, that the so-called Republican leadership would have gotten a clue.

Elena Kagan has no more qualification for the Supreme Court than Minnie Mouse has for a physics laboratory. It took the NRA to bring attention to what we in the Patriot community have been literally shrieking at you Senators… that we expect you to do the will of the people who sent you there. Apparently, and judging by the round after round of softball questions and obfuscating answers by Kagan, you are either deaf or incompetent.

Barack Obama has no ‘right’ to Supreme Court nominations of his choice. Barack Obama is a communist. Elena Kagan is a Marxist in his exact image. What the hell is it going to take to make you people wake up and smell the roses? Your oath of office is to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic”. Obama is the enemy, make no mistake about it. Barack Obama and his DeMarxists are the greatest threat to this Republic in memory, possibly in history. ‘Giving’ Obama another Supreme Court nominee is like giving a spoiled brat a loaded revolver… pointed at our heads.

Now to be “fair and balanced”, there are some truly patriotic Republican Senators serving our country, but if you don’t have the intestinal fortitude to confront this perennial handful of pathetic excuses we’ll have to do it for you, and politically it won’t be pretty. You seem to think that we out here in the Patriot movements don’t talk to each other. You’re sadly mistaken… this movement has grown to the point where we can, and will, shift millions of votes if that is what is necessary. We have told you time after time that we will not tolerate the ‘old boy’ good time Charlie attitudes that have cost Conservatives and the country again and again. Having our own turn against us is getting very old, very fast.

The NRA is taking the lead on resistance to the Kagan nomination. They’re spotlighting the votes of the Republicans and ‘moderates’ in the nominating committee and will closely monitor the votes in the full Senate. The NRA has four million members nationwide. Almost without exception these Americans vote… millions more patriots will vote with them. The events of the last two years should be instructive to the mealy-mouthed treacherous “Repubics”, as Mark Levin is wont to call them.

There will be no ‘safe’ seats in the House or the Senate. We will name you and shame you before the nation whose trust you have scorned.
Then we will hound you from office.

Kagan Nomination Should Be Filibustered – Republicans, No Guts?

The very lack of information on Elena Kagan’s opinions regarding constitutional issues, which are key to this country’s survival as a free Republic, is the reason that Kagan should be dissected before Senate Republicans, carefully and in great depth.

Statements like “It’s fine if the law bans books because government won’t really enforce it” are stunning, with implications in several different directions. For one, it certainly indicates someone who has little or no respect for the Constitution, or by extension the people of this great country. It highlights the fundamental distrust of the individual right of free speech, on not only the part of the DeMarxist government, but is indicative of the inner Elena Kagan… the Obama clone who will be a rubber stamp for her Marxist boss.

There’s no longer any doubt in this country about who and what Barack Hussein Obama is and what he is trying to accomplish before he can be stopped. Elena Kagan wasn’t picked because she is a great jurist… or a jurist at all. She was picked by Obama because she is a political ideologue in the image of her boss, and can be reliably expected to follow Obama’s suicidal intentions for this country to a ‘T’.

The very fact that so much effort has gone into obscuring Kagan’s paper trail, including direct interference from the White House, is a glaring flare-lit tip-off to Republican Senators. Make no mistake… Elena Kagan favors a total ban on personal ownership of firearms. Philosophically, Kagan stands firmly with the dissenting Justices on the Supreme Court in Monday’s extension of the 2008 District of Columbia ruling in favor of an individual’s right to own and keep a firearm for self defense.

Those Justices would gladly support a total ban on firearms, such as has turned the United Kingdom into a bloody battleground, where citizens are regularly prosecuted and imprisoned for defending their own lives and property!! That’s the Elena Kagan that Republican Senators should be looking at, very carefully.

I assure you that we will be observing our Conservative Republican Senators throughout this process as well. A brilliant Jurist, Robert Bork, was destroyed by Ted Kennedy in an avalanche of lies and invective during his confirmation hearings, for no more reason than his opposition to Roe vs. Wade which is, and was, patently unconstitutional to start with… allowed by a gutless, timid Republican Senate. Sound familiar? The gutless part, that is.

Elena Kagan should be turned away. Not in revenge for the treatment of Robert Bork but because she is an out and out statist, and if not a Marxist, very closely politically and philosophically aligned with the DeMarxists. Republican Senators have the responsibility to see that only Constitutional originalists are selected for the Supreme Court. Senators, that is your responsibility to the people of this country… that is your responsibility to the Constitution.
There is a huge Constitutional Patriotic coalition out here and we are watching you as intently as we are watching the Kagan hearings.

Obama Running Interference For Kagan?

We haven’t heard much from Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Elena Kagan. It’s almost like they told her to burrow down and stay out of site. Up until now we didn’t know a heck of a lot about what she did think about key issues and constitutional questions. All we had was the canned tripe put out by the White House via the lame stream media.

Elena Kagan

Since then, investigators have delved into the papers of the late Justice Thurgood Marshall in the Library of Congress and her writings there placed her firmly in the camp of the left. The unease that conservatives had about Kagan’s nomination has been vindicated. The Marshall documents are a window to Ms. Kagan’s fundamental leftist ideology and should be closely examined by Republicans.

Just why everyone has been running around, sagely harrumphing and preparing to roll over for this nominee, is puzzling in the extreme. Frankly, it smacks of the business as usual go-along-to-get-along Republicans that have plagued the party for so long. It’s why the patriot movement has given the removal of these people such a high priority. They will be replaced by rock-solid Reagan conservatives wherever and whenever possible.

There are reported to be another 150,000 documents, pertaining to Kagan’s time in the Clinton Justice Department, housed at the Clinton Library. Supposedly, these documents have to be read and cleared with the Clinton crowd. Plenty of time for monkey business there and, according to reports, President Obama is not eager to have this information surface before the hearings. Obama obstruct? No, of course not.

Liberal critics of Kagan’s nomination were concerned that she was too moderate. According to what I’ve been able to find they need not worry. Elena Kagan is far to the left of Justice John Paul Stevens.
Let’s let the Republicans know that we are following this issue very carefully… they will be under as much scrutiny as Kagan.

Senator Kyl, Shut The Heck Up!

The moderates in the US Senate are poised to roll over on the nomination of Elena Kagan. This is a prime example of the changes that are going to have to be made in order for the Republican party to prosper and grow into this century. Announcing to all and sundry that Ms. Kagan’s confirmation is as good as a done deal was not the smartest thing you’ve ever done, Senator Kyl. That applies to John Cornyn of Texas as well.

We have some questions we’d like asked and answered. If Elena Kagan is confirmed she will be making decisions that will influence the court, the constitution and ultimately the daily lives of every man, woman and child in this nation for two or three decades to come. Is there a single reason that she should not be vetted accordingly?

We know quite a bit about her. We know she’s a hard-left liberal from upper New York… surprise! She has spent most of her career in academia. She clerked for Justice Thurgood Marshall and she worked for the Clinton administration for two years. The bulk of her paper trail will come from there. Last week, I said that Elena Kagan had never tried a case before a court. As a reader pointed out to me, I was incorrect. She has tried one case as Solicitor General before the Supreme Court.

She has some radical views on the first amendment and the government’s role. Kagan appears to have some serious anti-gun issues. Both of these deserve close scrutiny. Her shameful banning of military recruiters on Harvard’s campus should be a disqualifier by itself. For any Senator on the Republican side to state out of hand that he saw no impediment to Kagan’s passage is a slap in the face to every American citizen. You’re not doing the job we are paying you to do. To say we won’t filibuster is pure cowardice and is handing the problem right back for we the people to handle, in the form of a possible radical activist justice to deal with for decades.

Apparently, some of you moderate Republicans didn’t get the Bob Bennett message. There’s no place to hide from us and November is closer by another day. The Conservatives, Independents and disaffected Democrats, who together comprise the American Patriot movement which has taken the nation by storm, will not permit you to go back to your old ways. Remember, if you are not up for re-election this cycle we’ll be waiting when you are and you will answer to your fellow Americans and constituents for your deeds, or lack thereof.
The nation can no longer afford phony Republicans or false Conservatives. We don’t have that luxury any more.

Judicial Lightweight.

She’s a college buddy of Obama’s. Her name is Elena Kagan. Her portfolio is as empty as Obama’s own. She has never tried a case in front of any court. She has written no legal briefs or opinions. She has never tried a case, either as council or as a judge. She has no qualification to sit on the highest court in the land. She’s not as much lawyer or legal academic as she is a political hack for Barack Hussein.

Obama didn’t pick her for her legal brilliance. He picked her because she is every bit as much a left wing radical as he is. He picked her because she’ll follow Obama’s leftist agenda with the dedication of a zealot. He picked her for Solicitor General for the same reason. Rush Limbaugh called her a “pure academic idealist radical”. I’m inclined to go along with Rush’s analysis.

There is supposedly some trepidation among liberals about Ms. Kagan’s opinions about everything from the second amendment to her stated opposition to gay marriage. Many see her as an academic with the hallmarks of a cautious pragmatist and not the ultra-left leaning activist jurist they want. She’s plenty radical enough for most of us. I’m sure we’ll hear plenty more about her as this thing plays out.

The Republicans must filibuster this appointment. Republican lawmakers have a long history of being all too willing to cave on issues where standing on conservative principles was not the popular thing to do. Republicans should note and study what occurred with Bob Bennett. Our lawmakers should be aware that we are watching. We’re watching every race and every candidate very closely. Stand up and fight or go the way of Bob Bennett is what it amounts to.

Elena Kagan would be a dangerous radical on the Supreme Court. She is being put forth strictly because she’ll work to further the Barack Hussein Obama regime’s radical socialist agenda. Obama has taken a page from the book of Franklin Roosevelt, from when he attempted to pack the Supreme Court with Justices who Roosevelt knew were in favor of his big government policies.
As Conservatives, we have to do all we can to see that no ‘court packing’ goes on with Barack Obama in the White House. Filibuster or else.
